By myself
just the other day, as i was driving to work. a thought striked me.
it has been nearly four years away from home.
i have been living a really carefree live.
with no worries about naggings if i were to come home late. i can eat as much junk food as i want. i can cook whatever i want. i can curse out loud if it need be. i can invite friends home and have a jolly good time. i can do alot of crazy stuff other than studying [it is necessary to have a crazy fun time sometime because so what... if you can get all the A's...... without any "life" in your life. i would say you have failed.]
--- the other day i was reading fortune magazine. one of the readers mentioned a very good point. a truly successful person in the corporate world is not only able to juggle his/her work well but to also be able to have quality time with his/her friends and family].
anyway... back to the topic.
it is good to have your own time with no commitments and worries. however, life is not all glamorous living alone in the states.
at times i really don't understand what the americans are thinking. i find most of them pretty narrow-minded --- for instance " Singapore is in China, isn't it?" i'm like... what the heck?? but then, i can't blame them because this country is so damn big, why do you really need to travel out?
in general, the american society is a very individualistic one. you just have to take care of you and you only! [to them, once you hit 18, you are free to leave the house...i have raised you for 18 yrs, is time to let me and your mum have some good time] argh.. that doesn't make much sense to me. if i have kids, i want them to be with me till they get married.
also, i'm tired of doing my own laundry, to feed myself [and to make matter worse, being a typical singaporean, i want good food, not just any burgers and fries!], to clean my house, to take care of my car.
i'm not winning. i'm just stating the facts. at the end of the time, i am thankful for the opportunity to come here. it's the best time of my life!
woohoo!
