woo hoo.. my aunt & her family from San Jose are coming over!

why would i want to blog?

hm.. with the recent 'who-hahs' about blogs these days, why would i want to blog? one big main reason is that i'm bored. i'm so NOT used to staying in tucson in the summer. for the past 2 years at this time, i would be back home searching for the best eats (typical of a singaporean), running around town, spending time with my grandma (she's amazing, one that i can talk crap to and plus we have a big-time favourite--WINE). whenever we have any family gathering type of occassions, there will definitely be wine in the fridge and one of uncles used to joke.."hey, better don't drink too much, i don't want a brother or sister at this age"

oh yah, not to forget, singapore sale is starting soon, that means 1 more agenda on my to-do list if i'm back-- big time: SHOPPING.

So anyhow back to the main topic on the blog (get used to it! we women, have a gifted talent: divertion of topic). i'm gonna just blog till i get tired of it: no committments. also, to avoid any lawsuits, i'm gonna do what a particular blog writer has suggested:

1. Use acronyms

2. Try to sandwich your myopic, discriminatory, bigoted, simplistic, shallow world view between two jokes. The first one will loosen people up before you unleash your comments. They might be stupid enough to think it is a continuation of the first joke. The second joke is to make sure they laugh it off and forget what you wrote.

3. For every offensive comment, balance with a positive one so that the net effect of your writing is zero .ie. you have not made the world a worst place to live in.

4. Even better, if you write something negative about a person, follow it up with something positive. It is like slapping an irritating baby, and just as it is about to wail, stuff a sweet into the mouth. Then you can be amused by the combined action of the suckling mouth and watery eyes.
5. Don’t make defamatory remarks. Yes, you didn’t think of that huh? You can actually avoid being sued for defamation by not making those comments! Keep them to your conversations with your imaginary girlfriend to be safe. Trust no one!

6. Don’t gossip, don’t spread lies! I usually spread exaggerated truths instead. For example if a friend is fat, I won’t lie and say that she/he is thin instead I would be truthful and say that she/he weighs a ton after rounding up. Since truth is subjective, you might not be sued.

7. Don’t speculate about the establishment. Always have solid facts to back yourself when you are writing. So if I were you, I would not write about the possibility of the 6th casino in Singapore in the future and focus on the 5th one instead.

okay, since i got the above from someone else's website, it is citation time -- Ziyang, Tan. (2005, May 10). Nightwish. Retrieved May 31, 2005, from http://xialan.blogspot.com/)

p/s: schools in United States are big on citation, esp business schools. after 3 yrs in college, this is when i put one of my skills to work.
also, most of the time, i would blog in lower case, if you see any upper case words, it means im either excited, annoyed, desperate or piss off big time!

my current world

The world of catus !

ladies & gentleman. this is currently my world. but hey, even though all you see are catus and mountains, there is actually civilization here. if you want a quiet and relax kind of lifestyle this is the place to be in. it is a good place for retirement but not if you want a life! this is too peaceful for me (hmm.. maybe i shouldn't complain too much, when i get back singapore to work, i know i will die big-time).

tucson however has got its own charm. the sunset is gorgeous, the roads are wide enough (oh well, all the roads in America are wide enough to fit 2 elephants), people here are polite, the weather is bright and sunny most of the time. last but not least, this is a place filled with beautiful memories by friends from all over the world.

who am I?

quote & unquote from a friend: i'm currently more than 10,ooo miles away from home, in the middle of a desert (with full amenities though), studying management information system from a school in which the program in one of the top five in the nation. i have been doing this for nearly 3 yrs and i miss singapore so much (oh well, not as if i haven't been home at all, just that it feels weird not being able to go back this summer). i won't see myself going back for a while as i'm graduating this dec. gonna stay a year more to try & look for a job. oh man, duck rice, chicken rice, wan ton mee, nasi lemak, i miss you guys so much!
