My Weekend

i had a fantastic long weekend. i went to newport beach and then off to the mountain the next day.

you know what.. i used to hate beaches here coz is so bloody cold and last saturday was the first time that i went to a beach in america that the weather is HOT.

it was awesome!

so awesome that we might be hitting the beach again next week.

i'm starting to like it here. with the beach and sunny weather around, i'm a happy girl. this allows me to play hard @ the beach during the weekend and and work hard/smart during the week day.

edwin.. this is for you!

after a day @ the beach, the next best thing to eating seafood is to have malaysia/singapore food..

we went over to this malaysia restaurant called Penang. it was pretty good but layang layang @ my aunt's place in san jose is still THE BEST.

we had nasi lemak, asam laksa and my all time favourite --- nasi lemak.

oh.. i love nasi lemak. i can eat that everyday. i can't wait to eat a cheap and good one when i get back to singapore.

On the way up!

oh yah. this is scary. i took this when we were on the way up to big bear lake on sunday. i think one of the motorists fell down the mountain, cause we saw a seemingly broken bike on the side and all the motorists were looking down.

i also realised one thing.. all these bikers were damn loyal. they all gathered together and some even tried to slow the traffic down (err.. but i dont know for what lah)

anyhow, the road up big bear is pretty whiny and the turns are pretty sharp.

Big Bear Lake

can you believe it? 8000 ft high and they have a pretty big lake up there. the weather was amazing and the air was so... fresh.

it was pretty cold so we changed our mind about kayaking. we did nothing much up there, just drove around and when we got tired, we just lied down on the grass. it was good to be up there, away from the stress and humans. just us and the sky.

i have been eating really well ever since mark got here. actually on monday, we decided to cook for my friend from greece. we cooked pasta and grilled some chicken for him and we ended that with a chocolate cake from trader joe's. it was great, just being able to sit down and chilled out.

actually i was so relaxed from the long weekend that i could not get my brain to start work the next day. it stayed pretty retarded till the end of the day.

is good to come home with food prepared for you.. ah.. is so good to have mark here.Posted by Picasa

after a meal, it is ALWAYS good to have deserts and of course beer lah. pilsner is a czech beer, the taste is very similar to carlsberg. actually you know what, carlsberg is a pilsner too and is from denmark. if you like slightly bitter beer, you should like this!

AND AND... oh.. the chocolate cake is marvelous. is from trader joe's. not too rich and the price is reasonable too. i love trader joe's.. the quality is there, is HEALTHY and is most of the time very tasty. that is also my favourite neighbourhood store where i do most of my grocery and also where mark's parents spent over 100 bucks getting food gifts for friends back home but is worth it man!

Food

i cannot stand already. i need some proper food.

for the past few days that i was sick, i hadn't been eating well. i'm too tired to cook so the only food available to me were the bread and the fried rice from tucson.

on sunday, my greeky friend invited me to go visit his church in downtown los angeles and after that he said we will go lunch and then some shopping.. [coz he needed to get a shirt for his friend's wedding].

lunch...====food!!!!!! onz!

me decided to bring him to farmer's market for lunch. that place is awesome. they have a-gazillion types of food and most importantly, singaporean food.

however, when we got there, the brazilian food looked more interesting and tasty so i decided to have that instead. emm... it was not too bad just a little salty.

anyhow, let me do a small little introduction of my greeky friend.

he is my co-worker and is one of the few that doesn't drive me too nuts.

he is a pretty quiet person but one big joker if he decides to joke.

he has got a very deep greek accent and sometime i can't understand him and he can't understand me....but is all cool coz friendship knows no bound.

also, he sits the closest to me, we keep each other from going crazy by entertaining one another.

i am thankful... thankful that i managed to find a true FRIEND @ work.

My day

ah... is so good to be home and do nothing.

after being constant contact with people during the week, it is good to be back in my small little space and have some quiet time.

some people have a phobia of being alone but i like it.

being alone allows me to reflect on things -- is there something that i have not done right and that i should improve on? what do i want to achieve in the coming weeks? did i do something that i have not bring glory to God?

i like to sit alone in the cafe and i like to be alone looking out at the vast sea. these things help to calm me down in this crazy world.

i treasure these moments of being alone even more since i started working. work is crazy. i hate to be on the constant go. when people are on the constant go, time flies and at the end of the day, you will then question yourself "what have i exactly done?" i don't like that.

i like to work hard/smart.....RELAX.....and then move on again.

Sick

sorry for the lack of update.

me got sick.....very sick..

i had fever, sore throat and abit of cough. i was shriveling my ass @ work the day before.

to make things worse, i had a million of stuff to do at work.

i told my boss that i will leave once i get the most urgent thing done but that most urgent thing took me a very long time to get it done and i didnt leave till 5:30 yesterday.

to be sick living alone in a foreign place is no fun.

but i also found out who are the people who actually cares for me.

one of my co-workers called me up to check on me. that is pretty cool.

me getting stronger. that's cool too.

What's up everyone!

yo..... me back!

it was an amazing trip. good food, great friends and the clear blue sky. life is beautiful over there.

tucson has got two things that is overfilling with. MEMORIES and LOVE.

i left that place with a very heavy heart. on the way to the airport, as i looked out of the window, there were memories everywhere. though i do agree that tucson sometime can be kind of boring but the people i met over there and the things we do together just make this place so incredibly special.

when i came in on the first day, i had dinner to eat ---- home cooked char siew and ipoh hor fun.
mark cooked that and clifton took the effort to warm it up for me. thanks dudes!!

after that, it was just fun after fun.

this trip to tucson gave me a little shock.

me hate hard liquor.

when louanne and clifton came to pick me up from the airport, the moment i got into the car, he passed me a plastic bag. i opened it. shit... it's Jonnie Walker Black Label. wau lau.. clifton, since when you like to drink this. i asked.

i was prepared to drink the moment i stepped onto tucson soil but Black Label.. i heven reach that stage yet.

haha somemore he damn classic. Black Label with gorgonzola cheese...
